Mountainside Medical Equipment: Who We Are and What We're About

Mountainside Medical Equipment: Who We Are and What We're About

Winter is a wearying season, and it can make it hard to pick yourself up in the morning and show up to work with energy. Everyone needs to recharge sometimes, and one of the best ways to do that is to remind yourself of your goals and what you've accomplished. With that in mind, we'd like to present some facts about Mountainside Medical Equipment as a way of explaining how we started out and got to the point where we became your number one medical supplier.

In Operation Since 2002

That's right, we've been in business for 16 years, and not always at the same level we're at now. When Mountainside was founded, owners Martin Zarnock Sr. and Jr. operated it out of Marty Jr.'s apartment and initially focused on procuring supplies for nursing homes in and around Central New York. From there Mountainside grew into a business with a custom-built office and warehouse facility, as well as a website that serves both U.S. and international customers and whose products consistently top Google searches.

The size of our business is not a source of bragging rights, but rather an opportunity. Due to an expansive list of product offerings and a large distribution network, Mountainside is able to provide affordable and effective medical products that meet the needs of a complex, ever-expanding client base. We're able to offer not only great products but also exceptional knowledge and support to individual customers, nursing homes, veterinary clinics, government services, and hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

Mountainside Medical Employees

Family-Owned and Community-Focused in Marcy, New York

Mountainside Medical Equipment has always been a family venture, from its early days being operated from that apartment. Marty Zarnock Sr. and Jr. have been working together since Marty Jr. graduated high school, when both were employed by a different medical supplier. And at Mountainside, they're joined by Marty Sr.'s daughter Christina Nelson and her husband Rory; it's also a common sight to see not only other family members stop by our offices, but also their pets (including 2 adorable dogs who you may see occasionally pop up in pictures on our Facebook page).

In addition, Mountainside is still involved in the community of Marcy and the surrounding region, despite the international reach of our online presence. Our first freestanding location was in a building owned by Heritage Health Care of Utica, NY, one of our first clients and still one we work with. We regularly take part in events run by local not-for-profit organizations, as well as support VA hospitals and centers. We also operate a medical supply outlet store at our location in Marcy, providing our community with an accessible store nearby to purchase high-quality medical products while having direct support and guidance from our staff professionals.

Mountainside Medical Martin Zarnock Sr

A Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business

Mountainside Medical's status as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business isn't just a state classification; it's a fundamental part of the values by which we do business. Marty Sr. discovered his passion for providing necessary and life-saving medical supplies while enlisted as a Sergeant in the United States Army and deployed in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970. Assisting injured soldiers as well as being struck by shrapnel from a bomb taught Marty Sr. the value of having easy access to medical goods. Chronic health problems caused by exposure to wartime chemicals have only further strengthened his dedication to providing exceptional medical supplies and services to people, as well as assisting and caring for veterans who have returned from duty.

An Industry Innovator

We're never content to rest on our laurels. Mountainside Medical strives to be at the forefront of the medical industry. How do we do this?

  • By championing inventive new products. Our own topical pain gel Mountain Ice is the most popular new product in pain relief. We're always looking for the next big thing!
  • By meeting difficult needs. Sometimes that means assistive living devices or physical therapy supplies, but we also want to provide the best equipment to those who serve. With the opioid epidemic raging on, we're working to get first responders and law enforcement tools like Naloxone that they need to control this crisis.
  • By staying connected. We publish daily articles to help keep our customers informed about the newest developments in medicine and their choices in medical care. Great medical care is made more accessible when people know the options available to them.

Mountainside Medical Equipment NDC Trendsetter Award

An Award-Winning Company

Awards aren't easy to come by in fields where great numbers of people do such necessary work -- often the continuous daily efforts made by medical companies go unremarked upon. It's a field where so many people have such complex and urgent needs that it's easy to miss how much work and innovation creates the systems and supply chains that fulfill those needs. But earlier this year, Mountainside Medical Equipment was honored with the NDC Trendsetter Award, given only to 2 businesses out of the hundreds that work with National Distribution & Contracting, a massive health care supply chain company.

The Trendsetter Award is given to medical suppliers who continue to push the boundaries of the healthcare industry by further elevating the consumer experience and rising above industry standards by constantly excelling and being on the forefront of business growth. Here at Mountainside, we consider exponential business growth is proof of the elevated customer service we strive for. The tremendous 16-year journey we've been on has always been grounded in our values of honesty, dependability, and dedication.
