Getting to Know Us - Martin Zarnock Sr.

We are wrapping up our 'Getting to Know Us' series this week, and what better way to end than by introducing the man who started it all here at Mountainside Medical - Martin Zarnock Sr. 

After graduating high school in 1968, Marty Sr. was drafted and selected to deploy for basic training with the US Army. He was then deployed to help fight in the Vietnam War. 

Marty Sr.'s passion for helping others and treating patients came from his time in the Army, where he was Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division. There, he assisted injured soldiers who needed medical attention. After a bomb hit the area where he was stationed, and Marty Sr., survived injuries from metal debris, he was directed to the medical supply tent where he helped those who needed to restock their packs. It was then when he rapidly realized the importance of having high quality medical supplies.

After Marty Sr. was honorably discharged in August 1970, he began to work as a director for a supply company that provided pharmacy services to long-term care nursing homes. Eager to work hard and quick to learn, he quickly moved up from stock room clerk to sales associate to territory sale representative for a large portion of New York State. Along with a small group of employees, Marty Sr. began to grow the business of medical supplies - which added value to the pharmacy services.

After dedicating several years, unexpectedly, Marty Sr. and his son, Marty Jr. were let go from their jobs. It was then that they had an idea to go into business for themselves, and to continue to do their part in the healthcare industry, where they would still provide products to help treat and heal patients on a daily basis. 

They immediately hit the ground running. With hard work, determination, and positive attitudes, Marty Sr. and Marty Jr. built the foundation known today as Mountainside Medical Equipment.

Today, Mountainside Medical Equipment is a New York State certified Service Disabled, Veteran-Owned small business, located in Marcy, New York. Mountainside Medical Equipment is a company that strives to keep the family angle. Every employee's goal is to make our customers feel welcomed, respected, and special.
