Jantoven Warfarin Sodium 6 mg is a prescription medication used to prevent and treat blood clots in the veins, arteries, lungs, and heart. Warfarin sodium 6 mg is also used to reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks in people with certain medical conditions, such as atrial fibrillation, heart valve replacement, or a history of blood clots. Warfarin is an anticoagulant, or blood thinner, that works by slowing the formation of blood clots in the body. It is also used to prevent blood clots from forming during certain medical procedures, such as surgery or dialysis.

Mechanism of Action forJantoven Warfarin Sodium 6 mg:

The mechanism of action for Jantoven (warfarin sodium) 6 mg is to inhibit the activity of vitamin K epoxide reductase, an enzyme responsible for converting vitamin K to its active form. Vitamin K is a necessary component for the production of certain blood clotting factors. By inhibiting this enzyme, Jantoven prevents the production of these clotting factors, which results in a decrease in the body's ability to form blood clots. This is why Jantoven is commonly used as an anticoagulant to prevent and treat blood clots in conditions such as atrial fibrillation, deep vein thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism. The specific dosage of Jantoven is determined by a patient's INR (International Normalized Ratio) level, which measures the time it takes for blood to clot. With regular monitoring and dosage adjustments, Jantoven can help prevent excessive blood clotting without causing excessive bleeding.
