Etomidate for Injection is a medication used as a short-acting anesthesia in medical procedures or surgeries. It is administered intravenously and works by decreasing brain activity, causing sedation and loss of consciousness. This product contains 2 mg of etomidate in a single-dose vial, with a total volume of 10 mL. There are 10 vials per box, each intended for one-time use only. Etomidate for Injection is typically used in hospital or clinical settings by trained medical professionals.

Etomidate for injection, a sedative-hypnotic agent, produces a rapid onset of anesthesia, and a short duration of action. It is a racemic mixture of S-(+)-etomidate and R-(-)-etomidate enantiomers. Etomidate for injection is indicated for the induction of general anesthesia. The etomidate enantiomers have different pharmacologic properties. Etomidate for injection is a synthetic imidazole derivative that acts as a non-competitive GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) receptor agonist. When etomidate binds to the GABA receptor, it causes an influx of chloride ions into the nerve cell, leading to an inhibitory effect on the nerve. This results in a reduction in the activity of the central nervous system and a decrease in the responsiveness of the heart to stimulation. Etomidate for injection produces an anesthetic state that is characterized by a rapid onset and short duration of action.

Etomidate is a sedative and hypnotic agent that is used for the induction of general anaesthesia. It is a short-acting agent that works by depressing the central nervous system. Etomidate binds to the GABA receptor and activates the chloride ion channel, which results in an influx of chloride ions into the neuron. This causes the neuron to become hyperpolarized and inhibits the release of neurotransmitters.
