The Rusch® QuickTrach® Cricothyrotomy Kit is an ideal emergency airway device that allows quick and safe ventilation in the presence of acute respiratory distress with upper airway obstruction. The Teleflex QuickTrach Emergency Cricothyrotomy Kit is easy to use. To perform a surgical cricothyrotomy, the EMS provider removes the Teleflex QuickTrach Emergency Cricothyrotomy Tube from the sterile packaging and inserts the introducer through the Teleflex QuickTrach Emergency Cricothyrotomy Tube. The EMS provider then inserts the insertion stylet through the Teleflex QuickTrach Emergency Cricothyrotomy Tube and into the trachea. The EMS provider then uses the introducer to open the cricothyroid membrane and inserts the Teleflex QuickTrach Emergency Cricothyrotomy Tube into the trachea. The Teleflex QuickTrach Emergency Cricothyrotomy Tube is then connected to a breathing bag and ventilation is initiated.

Since 1990, when the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) first approved surgical cricothyrotomy, emergency medical services (EMS) providers have used this life-saving procedure to ventilation in patients with an airway obstruction. In 2001, the FDA approved the Teleflex QuickTrach Emergency Cricothyrotomy Kit, the first cricothyrotomy kit designed for use by prehospital providers. The Teleflex QuickTrach Emergency Cricothyrotomy Kit allows EMS providers to perform a surgical cricothyrotomy in an emergency situation when other means of airway access are not available.
