Heparin

Heparin sodium is a highly effective anticoagulant medication used to prevent and treat blood clots in the body. It works by interfering with the body's natural blood clotting mechanism, preventing the formation of blood clots. It is commonly used in the treatment of deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and during surgeries or medical procedures that carry a risk of blood clots. Heparin sodium is usually given by injection but may also be available in a topical form. It is a prescription medication and should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Side effects may include bleeding, bruising, or pain at the injection site. Individuals with a history of bleeding disorders or certain medical conditions may not be able to use heparin sodium.
