Allevyn 2 inch x 2 inch Non-Adhesive Foam Dressings, Smith & Nephew (10 bx)
Smith & Nephew Allevyn Non-Adhesive Dressings has a unique tri-laminate structure made up from a non-adherent perforated polyurethane wound contact layer, and an outer film layer which is both bacteria-proof and water-proof. Helps create and maintain a moist wound environment. Allevyn dressings are non-adhesive and are therefore recommended for wounds surrounded by sensitive skin, such as venous ulcers. The lack of adhesive allows the use of the most suitable retention method, for example, tape onto intact skin, appropriate bandaging or a film dressing such as OpSite*. Allevyn Non Adhesive dressing is used to manage exudate in pressure ulcers (stages 2, 3, and 4), leg ulcers, donor sites, partial- and full-thickness wounds, wounds with moderate drainage, wounds with serosanguineous drainage, and red or yellow wounds.
How to Apply ALLEVYN Non-Adhesive
- Cleanse wound in accordance with local clinical protocols.
- Select an appropriate dressing size. ALLEVYN Non-Adhesive can be cut to fit awkward areas.
Always use a clean technique when cutting the dressing. When used under compression therapy, the dressing must be cut to the size of the wound. - Prepare and clean the skin surrounding the wound area and remove excess moisture. Any excess hair should be clipped to ensure close approximation to the wound.
- Remove ALLEVYN Non-Adhesive from the pack using a clean technique.
- Apply the white face to the wound ensuring good contact and secure with a dressing retention sheet (eg OPSITE◊ Flexifix or OPSITE Flexifix Gentle), tape or bandage.
- If the dressing has been cut ensure any exposed foam areas are covered with an appropriate film dressing taking care not to cover the entire dressing.
