Asclera Polidocanol Injection 0.5% is a prescription medication used to treat varicose veins and spider veins in the legs. It works by damaging the cells lining the inside of the blood vessels, causing them to close and eventually disappear. It is typically used in combination with other treatments, such as compression stockings, to improve the appearance and symptoms of varicose veins.

Asclera Polidocanol Injection 0.5% is a prescription medication used to treat varicose veins and spider veins in the legs. It contains the active ingredient polidocanol which works by damaging the lining of the vein, causing it to close and eventually be absorbed by the body. This helps improve the appearance of varicose and spider veins, as well as reduce associated symptoms such as pain and discomfort. It is meant to be injected intravenously, using 5 ampules that contain 10 mg per 2 mL of the solution.

What is a Sclerosing Agent?

A sclerosing agent is a medication or substance used in sclerotherapy, a medical procedure that involves injecting a solution directly into a blood vessel or vein, causing it to close. Sclerotherapy is most commonly used to treat varicose veins and spider veins. The sclerosing agent causes damage to the inner lining of the vein, causing it to collapse and ultimately be reabsorbed by the body. This results in improved blood flow and a reduction in the appearance of the varicose or spider veins. Common sclerosing agents include chemicals such as sodium morrhuate, polidocanol, and sodium tetradecyl sulfate.
