Instructions on How to use Ozempic (Semaglutide Injection) 1mg/0.75 mL Pre-filled Pen 3mL:
1. Prepare the pen: Wash your hands before handling the pen. Remove the pen from the package and check the label to ensure it contains the correct medication and strength. Make sure the solution inside the pen is clear and colorless. If it appears cloudy or has particles, do not use it.
2. Attach the needle: Twist and remove the cap from the pen. Take a new needle and remove the protective tab. Twist the needle onto the pen tightly, avoiding contact with the needle tip.
3. Choose the injection site: You can inject Ozempic in your stomach, thigh, or upper arm. Before each injection, choose a different spot on the chosen area. Do not inject into scars or bruised or sore skin.
4. Inject the medication: Hold the pen with the needle pointing upwards. Pull back and hold the dose selector button until the dose counter reaches “0”. Make sure the dose pointer aligns with “0”. Release the dose selector button. Hold the pen at a 90-degree angle to the skin and insert the needle fully into the chosen injection site. Press and hold the dose button until all of the medicine has been injected.
5. Remove the pen: Remove the needle from the skin and then release the dose button. Wait about 5 to 10 seconds before removing the needle from the skin to ensure the full dose has been delivered. Do not press the dose button again when removing the pen, as this can cause the medicine to leak.
6. Discard the pen and needle: After each use, unscrew and discard the used needle. Do not reuse needles. Attach the pen cap to protect the needle and discard the pen safely in a sharps container.
7. Record and rotate: Remember to keep a record of your injections, noting the date, time, and injection site. Rotate injection sites each time you use a new pen to avoid skin irritation and lumps.
8. Follow-up: Follow your doctor’s instructions for monitoring your blood sugar levels while using Ozempic. Make sure to attend regular check-ups and discuss any concerns or questions with your doctor.
Please Note: These instructions are a general guide only. Always follow the specific instructions provided by your doctor or pharmacist for using Ozempic. If you are unsure of how to use the pen, do not attempt an injection and seek further guidance. Never share your pen with others, even if the needle is changed.
