Calcium Gluconate in Sodium Chloride Injection Freeflex 2,000 mg per 100 mL is used as a source of calcium to maintain the serum calcium level in the patient receiving total parenteral nutrition. It also helps prevent or to correct hypocalcemia. This medication is a clear, colorless to light yellow solution.
Hypocalcemia, or low blood calcium, is a potentially serious condition that can occur when there is not enough calcium in the blood. Common symptoms of hypocalcemia include muscle cramps, numbness, tingling, and seizures. Treatment for hypocalcemia may include increasing calcium intake, medications, or surgery.
