Cyanokit (Hydroxocobalamin for Injection) is an antidote used to treat known or suspected cyanide poisoning. Cyanide is a potentially deadly chemical compound commonly found in industrial and household products, as well as in some natural sources. When ingested, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin, cyanide can interfere with the use of oxygen in the body and lead to serious symptoms, including breathing difficulties, seizures, and even death.

Hydroxocobalamin (also known as vitamin B12a or hydroxycobalamin) is a naturally occurring form of vitamin B12. It is an essential water-soluble vitamin that plays a role in the production of red blood cells, DNA synthesis, and nerve function. Hydroxocobalamin is commonly used as a dietary supplement to treat vitamin B12 deficiency and is also used therapeutically in cases of cyanide poisoning. It is typically administered by injection or as an intravenous infusion.

Cyanokit Cyanide Antidote Kit is used to counteract the effects of cyanide poisoning. It is a prescription medication indicated for the treatment of known or suspected cyanide toxicity and is the result of an extensive development process led by SK Life Science Inc. Through the development of the kit, it incorporates the antidote hydroxycobalamin to react with the cyanide present in an individual's body and create effective replenishment of vitamin B12 levels. The Cyanokit Cyanide Antidote Kit will rapidly convert cyanide into a form that the body can process for excretion thus avoiding the organism being further damaged by the harmful toxin. This Cyanokit Cyanide Antidote Kit has helped in safely and effectively helping people around the world combat cyanide poisoning.

Instructions on How To Use Cyanokit Cyanide Antidote Kit
1. Read all instructions in the Cyanokit kit carefully before handling or administering product.
2. Wear protective gloves and goggles while administering product.
3. Follow the explicit instructions from the healthcare provider on proper use of the cyanide antidote kit.
4. Connect the kit’s 100 mL of calcium gluconate to a bag of normal saline solution filled with 500 mL volume, replacing the nutrient bag altogether.
5. Hang the kit ensuring that all of the solution is below the level of the patient. Carefully open the impermeable seal concentrated solution and the antecedent 1000 mL in a central venous catheter.
6. Give the patient three to five continuous IV sets once an hour in case of ingestion with an adult, or two sets, if given to a newborn.
7. Administer indigo carmine dye after proper referral, in case of a pulmonary cyanide poisoning patient, following healthcare provider instructions.
8. Titrate to clinically neutral pH throughout the course of the administration, at least twice simultaneously with the calcium gluconate itself, and possibly a third time, after the other intervention(s).
9. Monitor the patient's level of consciousness, breathing sound, heart rate, and blood concerned parameters using any applicable medical device to determine toxicity and severity of the agent’s effects.
10. Once completed, Eliot the intravenous line and securely cap and place paperwork on proper disposal bag according to safety guidelines. Appropriately journey and discard used.

Cyanide poisoning may result from inhalation, ingestion, or dermal exposure. Prior to administration of CYANOKIT, smoke-inhalation victims should be assessed for: exposure to fire or smoke in an enclosed area; presence of soot around the mouth, nose, or oropharynx, and altered mental status. In addition to CYANOKIT, treatment of cyanide poisoning must include immediate attention to airway patency, adequacy of oxygenation and hydration, cardiovascular support, and management of any seizure activity.
