Combat serious bacterial infections with Fetroja Injection (Cefiderocol Sulfate Tosylate) 1 gram, offering advanced antibiotic therapy for optimal results.
Fetroja (Cefiderocol Sulfate Tosylate) 1 gram is an antibiotic injection used to treat complicated urinary tract infections (cUTIs) and hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia. It is particularly effective against gram-negative bacteria, including multidrug-resistant strains. Cefiderocol works by using a novel mechanism that exploits the bacteria's iron uptake system to penetrate its outer membrane, inhibiting cell wall synthesis. This innovative approach makes it a valuable option in the management of difficult-to-treat infections, ensuring effective treatment where other antibiotics may fail.
Here are the steps to use Fetroja injection:
1. Prepare the medication: Fetroja injection comes in a single-dose vial containing 1 gram of the medication. The powder must be reconstituted and then diluted before use. To reconstitute, add 10.5 mL of sterile water for injection to the vial. Gently shake the vial until the powder is completely dissolved. The resultant solution should be clear and colorless.
2. Dilute the solution: After reconstitution, the solution must be further diluted with 0.9% sodium chloride injection or 5% dextrose injection. This will give a final concentration of 10 mg/mL. The mixture should be gently swirled but not shaken.
3. Check the solution: Inspect the solution for any particles or discoloration. Do not use the medication if it contains any visible particles or if there is any change in color.
4. Choose an injection site: Fetroja is usually administered through a vein (intravenous infusion) or a muscle (intramuscular injection). A healthcare professional will determine the most appropriate site for you.
5. Administer the injection: The healthcare professional will administer the injection slowly over a period of 3 hours (if given intravenously) or within 30 minutes (if given intramuscularly).
6. Follow the recommended dose: Fetroja is usually given once every 8 hours. The recommended dose for adults is 2 grams (administered as two separate 1 gram injections) per day for 7 to 14 days.
7. Follow the instructions from your healthcare provider: Your doctor may give you specific instructions on how to use the medication, based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Follow these instructions closely and do not miss any doses.
8. Dispose of unused medication: If you do not use all of the medication in the vial, dispose of it as recommended by your healthcare provider.
Remember to always consult your doctor or a healthcare professional for proper usage or if you have any questions or concerns about using Fetroja injection.
