(Note: We don’t Fill Personal Prescriptions)
How to Order:
A Mesalamine Rectal Suspension Enema Kit 60mL is used to treat ulcerative colitis, a form of inflammatory bowel disease. The enema delivers medication directly to the rectum and large intestine to reduce inflammation and symptoms such as rectal bleeding, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. This type of enema is often prescribed as a first-line treatment or for patients with disease that is limited to the rectum and sigmoid colon. It is also used for maintenance therapy to prevent flare-ups or to treat mild to moderate flare-ups.
Direction on how to use the Mesalamine Rectal Suspension Enema Kit:
1. Wash your hands: Before using the Mesalamine rectal suspension enema kit, it is important to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water.
2. Assemble the kit: Start by assembling the kit. The kit should contain a pre-filled enema bottle, disposable plastic applicator, protective cap, and package insert.
3. Prepare the enema bottle: Hold the enema bottle upright and gently shake it for a few seconds to mix the medication evenly.
4. Lie in a comfortable position: Find a comfortable position to lie down on your back or side. You can also kneel down with your head to the floor and your hips elevated.
5. Lubricate the applicator: Before inserting the applicator into your rectum, apply some lubricant, such as K-Y jelly, to the tip of the applicator to make insertion easier.
6. Insert the applicator: Remove the protective cap from the applicator and gently insert the applicator into the rectum. The direction of insertion should be towards your belly button. Do not force the applicator if you feel any resistance, as this may cause injury.
7. Empty the enema bottle: Slowly squeeze the enema bottle to empty its contents into your rectum. Make sure to empty the entire bottle.
8. Remove the applicator: When the enema bottle is empty, gently remove the applicator from your rectum.
9. Stay in position: Remain lying down for 30 minutes after the enema to allow the medication to reach the affected area.
10. Clean up: Dispose of the enema bottle and applicator in a trash can. Wash your hands again after use.
It is recommended to use the Mesalamine enema kit at bedtime to allow the medication to work overnight. Read the package insert for any additional instructions or precautions. If you have any questions or concerns, consult your doctor.
