Bacteriostatic Sodium Chloride 0.9% injection is used as a diluent for reconstituting medications intended for injection. It is a sterile isotonic solution that contains sodium chloride and a small amount of a bacteriostatic agent, typically benzyl alcohol. The bacteriostatic agent inhibits the growth of bacteria, allowing the solution to be used multiple times. However, it is not suitable for use in newborns, as benzyl alcohol can cause serious adverse effects in this population. This solution is primarily used in medical settings for the preparation and administration of drugs, ensuring they are delivered in a safe and sterile manner.
