Details & Features
- Advanced Hydrocolloid Technology: Creates and maintains a moist wound healing environment, which supports natural healing and minimizes pain during changes.
- Wide, Flexible Foam Border: Enhances adhesion and security, ideal for hard-to-dress or high friction areas (e.g., joints, heels, elbows).
- No Additional Taping Required: Simplifies application and saves time.
- Sterile & Individually Packed: Reduces risk of infection and cross-contamination.
- Easy Application & Removal: The adhesive border provides a secure fit without sticking to the actual wound bed, minimizing trauma on removal.
Directions for Use
- Cleanse the wound with a sterile saline solution and gently pat dry the surrounding skin.
- Select the appropriate size of DuoDERM® CGF® Border Dressing to ensure coverage of at least 1 inch beyond the wound edge.
- Remove the backing from the adhesive side of the dressing, being careful not to touch the wound contact surface.
- Apply the dressing over the wound, smoothing outward to ensure good adhesion and eliminate air pockets.
- Change the dressing as needed, typically every 3-7 days or when exudate approaches the dressing edge.
Dosage & Frequency
- Dressing should be changed when it becomes saturated with exudate or as directed by a healthcare professional.
- Typical wear time is 3-7 days depending on the amount of wound drainage and condition of surrounding skin.
- If signs of infection occur, reassess the wound and dressing choice with a healthcare provider.
CDC Guidelines Reference
- The CDC recommends using sterile dressings on acute wounds and surgically cleaned chronic wounds.
- Dressings should support a moist wound environment and be changed when saturated or per manufacturer guidelines.
- Always use proper hand hygiene and aseptic techniques during dressing changes.
Warnings
- For external use only.
- Do not use on patients with a known sensitivity to hydrocolloid components.
- Not intended for use on third-degree burns or wounds with heavy exudate or suspected infection.
- If infection, increased redness, or delayed healing occurs, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional.
- Do not reuse. Single-use only.
Potential Side Effects
- Mild irritation or maceration of surrounding skin.
- Allergic reaction or hypersensitivity (rare) to hydrocolloid material or adhesive.
- Transient odor or change in wound color—may occur due to interaction with wound exudate (not necessarily a sign of infection).
- If severe irritation, excessive redness, or signs of infection develop, discontinue use and contact a healthcare professional.
