Ivalon Nasal Packing with Airway Tube is a medical device used to control bleeding in the nasal cavity and maintain an open airway. It consists of a sponge material (Ivalon) that is non-impregnated with any medication or substance and is sterile to reduce the risk of infection. The airway tube allows for the patient to breathe more comfortably while the nasal pack is inserted. It is mainly used in cases of nosebleeds or nasal surgery.

How to Use  Ivalon Nasal Packing Sponge Strips:

The Ivalon Nasal Packing Sponge Strips with Airway Tube are typically used by medical professionals in a hospital or clinical setting and should be inserted by a trained healthcare provider. If you are using this product at home, make sure to consult with a medical professional before using it and follow all instructions carefully.

Here are the general steps for inserting the Ivalon Nasal Packing Sponge Strips with Airway Tube:

1. Prepare the patient: Before inserting the Nasal Sponge Strips, the patient should be in a comfortable position with their head tilted back slightly.

2. Clean the nasal passage: The provider may spray or irrigate the nasal passage with a saline solution to clean it and prepare it for the sponge strips.

3. Remove the packaging: Open the packaging and remove the sponge strips and the airway tube.

4. Insert the airway tube: The airway tube should be inserted into the nostril with the curved end facing the back of the throat. Gently curve the tube to conform to the shape of the nostril.

5. Place the sponge strip: The sponge strip should be placed inside the nasal passage with the airway tube running through the center of the strip. The sponge strip should be placed in a way that it covers the wound or bleeding area.

6. Secure the sponge strip: Use cotton swabs or medical forceps to gently pack the sponge strip into the nasal passage, ensuring that it is securely in place. Make sure that the sponge strip is not compressed too tightly to allow for proper drainage.

7. Repeat the process: If needed, the same process can be repeated for the other nostril.

8. Trim the excess airway tube: The airway tube should be trimmed to a length of 1-2cm protruding from the nostril. This is to help keep the sponge strip in place and to allow for easy removal.

9. Monitor the patient: The patient should be monitored closely to make sure that the sponge strip is properly placed and that there are no complications.

Removal instructions:

1. After the recommended time has passed, the nasal packing sponge strips can be removed.

2. Check for proper drainage: Before removing the sponge strip, make sure that proper drainage has occurred.

3. Gently remove the sponge strip and airway tube: Use cotton swabs or medical forceps to gently remove the packing strips and airway tube. If the strips are sticking, you can gently moisten them with saline solution before removing.

4. Monitor the patient: The patient should continue to be monitored after the sponge strips are removed to make sure bleeding does not start again.

Note: Always follow the recommendations and instructions of a medical professional when using the Ivalon Nasal Packing Sponge Strips with Airway Tube.
