It can also be used as a preventative measure for patients who have been exposed to the flu virus.

By blocking this enzyme, the medication helps prevent the flu virus from replicating and spreading to other cells, which can reduce the severity and duration of flu symptoms. It is most effective when taken within 48 hours of experiencing flu symptoms. It is not a cure for the flu, but can help to shorten the duration and lessen the severity of symptoms.
